Well how much would you pay? If you could know the secret of how to live two or three years or longer, what is it worth, what would you give up? It is a tough question.
After family, our health is the most important thing we have. Not possessions, holidays, clothes, cars etc. We get one body, one life and we should cherish it and live it.
Harvard University research (1) noted that as little as 15 minutes of physical activity a day can boost your life span by three years! A 2018 JAMA Network Open study(2) found that not exercising increases your risk of premature death more than cardiovascular disease, diabetes and even smoking.
So why do we put off doing something to make our health better? Why do we say:
"I will start Monday" or "after the holiday season"
"I can't afford a gym membership or Personal Training"
"I will join a gym in January"
"I will eat healthily after Christmas"
Excuses! Living longer can't mean enough to you? Remember tomorrow never comes...
The consequences of not doing SOMETHING to make ourselves healthier are that you will die sooner. Wow! Has that got your attention? Read it again.... do nothing, die earlier....
If you haven't read some of my other articles then please do, but read this one first:
https://www.dannidobsonpt.com/post/10-surprising-benefits-of-exercise The benefits of exercise and good nutrition are well documented.
But I don't have the money to join a Gym or get professional support!

I understand that not everyone can afford Gym Membership or a Personal Trainer. There are alternatives, you don't need to spend a lot of money joining a gym or employing a Personal Trainer.
Here are some easy things you can do to improve your health and get you moving, being healthier, without spending any or lots of money. There are links to other sites in the content below. So you have no excuses!
Walking
Walking is one of the best forms of exercise because it's cheap (FREE) and accessible to most people. Increasing the amount you walk is easier than you think. You can make it a social affair by walking with a friend or joining a local walking group.
This one looks great! https://www.ramblers.org.uk/leeds and there are many!
Home exercises
Burn calories, lose fat and feel great with a 10-minute home workout routines:
Exercise your heart and lungs with a 10-minute home cardio workout
Get into shape with a 10-minute home toning workout
Burn fat from your tummy, hips, thighs and bottom with a 10-minute legs, bums and tums home workout
Banish those flabby upper arms with a 10-minute upper arms workout
Running and jogging
Running makes more demands on your body than walking, so if you're just starting out, you should build up the speed and duration of your runs gradually.
If you're thinking about taking up running for the first time or have been inactive for a while, you may find running tips for beginners useful.
Thousands of people have learned to run using the NHS Couch to 5K podcast. The plan is designed to get complete beginners running 5km in 9 weeks.
Cycling
Cycling is an aerobic exercise that works your lower body and cardiovascular system.
If you plan to cycle regularly, make sure your bike is the right size and the saddle and handlebars are adjusted to suit your height.
As with running or walking, you can make cycling a social activity by riding with friends, family or a cycling group.
For tips for complete beginners, see cycling for beginners.
Swimming
There are 13 Leeds City Council pools where although not always available free can be used at a very reasonable charge.
Swimming is the third most popular type of exercise in the UK after walking and running. Most pools offer lessons if you're a beginner or want to improve.
Swimming exercises the whole body and is a great way to exercise without putting a strain on joints if you are heavier than you would like or have mobility problems..
Doing a few lengths involves most of the muscle groups. If you increase the pace, you'll get an aerobic workout, too.

Yesterday was History, Tomorrow is the Future, Today is a Gift, that's why it's called The Present.

If you value yourself (you are unique, great and special), give yourself (your one and only body), your loved ones and friends a gift. Get active, eat as well as you can, exercise, DO SOMETHING! Don't wait until tomorrow, do it today.
I know it is daunting if you haven't exercised before or recently. I was the same after gaining a lot of weight/fat after my daughter was born. I really do get it! I understand and know that I dreaded or was intimidated by exercise. Not because it wasn't the correct thing to do but rather I was afraid of being judged, watched or talked about (all in my mind of course). I looked at the professionals who could help, but they were like children to me...... or males (not what I wanted when I felt like I did then).
Thats why I am a Personal Trainer, to help you achieve your goals. To be the person you trust to help. Not judge, but show, encourage and give you confidence to exercise correctly and a unique plan to meet your goals.
I charge for my time with clients but what professional doesn't? Just take the time to compare what you spend on luxuries. Those new shoes or clothes that you don't really need. Compare that to what you spend on your health.
Longer life, better health and exercise is not something you can buy on line, it needs, US to decide to do SOMETHING, to exercise.
Money invested in your Health and Wellbeing will bring long term valuable returns. To you and your loved ones. Give your Health the priority it deserves, it will be the best use of your Money by far!
